I'm TJ, and I make Homestead: Household HQ, an iOS and iPadOS app for household organization. This page explains what information the app handles and how.
Homestead runs on your own devices, synced through your own iCloud account. I don't operate a server that stores your household's data, and I don't sell or share your information with anyone for advertising.
Household data you create — family member names and profiles (including kids, if you add them), chores, recipes, meal plans, and who's part of your shared household — is stored on your devices and synced between them, and with anyone you invite to share your household, using your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. I don't have access to this data, and it's never sent to any server of mine, because I don't run one.
Homestead reads and writes your calendar events directly through Apple's EventKit, using your device's own iCloud calendars — nothing is copied into Homestead's own storage. The same is true of your grocery list, which Homestead reads and writes as items in Apple Reminders, and of the photo slideshow, which reads photos directly from an album you choose in your device's Photos library. None of this ever reaches me.
Weather comes from Apple's own WeatherKit, based on a location you type into the app yourself — a city or address, not your device's real-time location. Homestead doesn't use Location Services and can't see where your device actually is; only the location text you've entered is forward-geocoded and sent to Apple to get a forecast.
Subscription and one-time purchase transactions (Homestead Pro) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. I receive confirmation that a purchase was made and its entitlement status, but no payment card details — Apple doesn't share those with developers.
Homestead has no third-party advertising SDK and doesn't track you across other apps or websites. I may use Apple's own aggregated, anonymized crash and performance reporting to fix bugs; it can't be used to identify you or your household.
Family members of any age can be added as household profiles by the household's organizer. These profiles are names and chore assignments only — no separate accounts, contact information, or advertising identifiers get created for them.
Because your household data lives in your own iCloud account, you control it directly. Deleting the app and its iCloud data from your devices removes it. I keep no separate copy.
