Homestead ("we," "us," "our") makes Homestead: Household HQ, an iOS and iPadOS app for household organization. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.
Homestead is built to run on your own devices, synced through your own iCloud account. We don't operate a server that stores your household's data, and we don't sell or share your information with third parties for advertising.
Household data you create — family member names and profiles (including children's names, if you add them), chores, recipes, and meal plans, and the record of who's part of your shared household — is stored on your devices and synced between them, and with anyone you invite to share your household, using your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to any servers of our own, because we don't operate any.
Homestead reads and writes your calendar events directly through Apple's EventKit, using your device's own iCloud calendars — nothing is copied into Homestead's own storage. The same is true of your grocery list, which Homestead reads and writes as items in Apple Reminders, and of the photo slideshow, which reads photos directly from an album you choose in your device's Photos library. None of this data ever leaves your device to reach us.
Weather information is fetched using Apple's own WeatherKit service, based on a location you type into the app yourself — a city or address, not your device's real-time location. Homestead does not use Location Services and cannot see where your device actually is; only the location text you've entered is forward-geocoded and sent to Apple to retrieve a forecast.
Subscription and one-time purchase transactions (Homestead Pro) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made and its entitlement status, but no payment card details, which Apple does not share with developers.
Homestead does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not track you across other apps or websites. We may use Apple's own aggregated, anonymized crash and performance reporting to fix bugs; this data cannot be used to identify you or your household.
Family members of any age may be added as household profiles within the app by the household's organizer. These profiles are names and chore assignments only — no separate accounts, contact information, or advertising identifiers are created for them.
Because your household data lives in your own iCloud account, you control it directly. Deleting the app and its iCloud data from your devices removes it. We retain no separate copy.
